Congratulations to our top 3 elementary Battle of the Books teams from Greenfield Elementary, Neely Traditional Academy, and Islands Elementary for being honored with a Superintendent Recognition at the May 2025 GPS Board meeting.
Gilbert Public Schools was awarded the 2025 Best Communities for Music Education in the nation by the NAMM Foundation for the 6th consecutive year, recognizing and celebrating the outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders who have made music education a part of a well-rounded education.

Following the 2024-25 school year, Islands Elementary principal Sam Valles is retiring after 29 years of being a part of the GPS Family. As we honor Principal Valles's lasting contributions, we also look ahead and introduce the next principal of Islands Elementary, who aims to keep the school’s strong culture and traditions alive.
This Wednesday the 23rd, 5th and 6th graders from elementary schools across the district gathered at Mesquite Junior High to take part in the Gilbert Public Schools’ District Battle of the Books competition.
